Department of Philosophy Graduate Program Overview

All first and second year students register for Colloquium (PHIL 69997). First and second year graduate assistants register for Colloquium and College Teaching (PHIL 69194). Although each class extends through the Spring Semester, register in the Fall only; an IP (In Progress) grade is given at the end of the Fall Semester and is converted to a credit grade at the end of the year.

(1) One graduate course in a discipline outside philosophy may be taken as a non-menu elective.

(2) Students who do not need to maintain full time status might prefer to take an additional elective (11 credit hours) in the Fall Semester of their second year to facilitate thesis writing in the Spring.
