What information is collected?

The Philosophy Department website contains information about the department, its faculty, and the courses and degree programs we offer.  When you browse these pages we collect no personal information from you.  While you are browsing our pages your IP address and other variables such as browser type and operating system are logged in standard server logs (just as they are on just about every other web site you ever visit).

How is this information used?

We use these standard server logs to measure traffic patterns at our site.  We do not match information obtained in this way with any personal information obtained directly from you.

Emailing us

The following policy applies to those who email us using the contact form on our website.

What information is collected?

When you email anyone in the department using our web contact form, you will be asked to provide your name, email address, and a subject.

How is this information used?

Your name, email address, and subject will appear on the email that is forwarded to your intended recipient, so that the recipient may reply to your email.

All email correspondence is treated with strict confidence.  We do not store the email address you provide, nor do we release any contents of the form to anyone except the recipient that you designate on the form.
